Guest Speaker: Dean Twist
Dean was one of 85 Australians chosen to work with Al Gore on his Climate Project in 2006. He has a background in science and agriculture, and in the development of sustainable energy. Dean will explain to us the significance of the Governments Greenhouse Reduction Target, and the global, national and local implications.

Guest Speaker: Dr Brian Lord
Dr Brian Lord recently retired from Charles Sturt University, Albury, where he had been the Head of the School of Environmental and Information Sciences. Brian’s area of expertise is fire ecology and vegetation ecology and management.

Guest Speaker: Dr Alison Mitchell
Alison spent 20 years working for CSIRO at the Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre where she gained a broad understanding of freshwater ecology. Alison now teaches at the National Environment Centre, a campus of TAFE NSW and runs the Waterwatch program for Friends of Willow Park. Alison will talk about the ecology of urban streams, the things we do to improve them and our Waterwatch data.

Guest Speaker: Dr Terry Hillman
Terry is an Adjunct Professor at La Trobe University in Wodonga and he also chairs the University’s Regional Advisory Board. Terry has been a Board member of the North East Catchment Management Authority and also the Murray Darling Association for many years. He was also Director of the Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre. Terry will talk about the challenges of managing our valuable water resources in this unprecedented time of reduced inflows and increased demand

Julie is President of Friends of Willow Park and has been instrumental in not only proposing the Master Plan project to City of Wodonga, but also ensuring that an innovative community engagement program formed a significant part of that Planning process. The Community Conversations part of the Master Plan process has drawn to a conclusion and Julie will present the data gathered in this important and innovative project.
